About The Eye Ball
The "Eye Ball" is the only fund raising activity for TWECS. This gala fund raising dinner, dance and silent auction is completely organized and run by volunteers. The funds are raised from the silent auction and the ticket sales cover the cost of the event. All auction items are solicited by volunteer eye care professionals. Many companies in the industry also donate to the silent auction.
The Eye Ball is a sold out event attended by many Ophthalmologists, Optometrists, Medical Doctors, Opticians, Company CEO'S and representatives and Paraoptometrics. It is attended by various politicians and diplomats including Linda Reid MLA for Richmond East, Sophia Leung, MP for Kingsway and Jenny Kwan, MLA for Mount Pleasant. It attracts leading figures from the news media including Vancouver Sun's Malcolm Parry, The Province, CTV, Global News and BCTV which did a feature story on our event. In 1997 rock star Elton John donated a pair of his concert stage sunglasses for sale in our silent auction.
Auction items include many romantic weekend get aways, golf packages, designer sunglasses, complete set of brand name frames and lenses, restaurants, an assortment of beauty, hair, wine and designer gift baskets, jewellery, Spa Packages, outdoor activities and many more.
Proceeds from the Eye Ball go to finance the shipping of old eyeglasses to the Third World and to establish a permanent clinic site.
If you enjoy planning events for a worthy cause while meeting lots of great people, please contact us at 604-874-2733 to volunteer. WE WOULD LOVE YOUR HELP!
