Eyeglass Recycling
Donate Your Old Eyeglasses
If you would like to donate eyeglasses, send them to:
Third World Eye Care Society You can also have your eyeglasses picked up from any Vancouver or Richmond location. Please email Barbara Schrodt at recycle@twecs.ca with "TWECS" in the subject line to arrange for a pick-up of your old eyeglasses.
Through the passage of many hands in eye clinics, optical stores, churches, and service clubs like the Lions Clubs and the Knights of Columbus, donated eyeglasses reach the TWECS warehouse. A space generously donated by the Burnaby-Lougheed Lions Club to accommodate the Monday night volunteers and the tens of thousands of used eyeglasses. Your old eyeglasses CAN make a world of difference. Help us
collect and recycle eyeglasses for the poor in the Third World.
Help us process the newly arrived glasses. We meet every Monday evening at 7:00pm in the basement of Burnaby-Lougheed Lions Club at 7420 Mulberry in Burnaby, off 16th and Cariboo Rd.
Contact Alf Vogel, email: vogelalfred@hotmail.com for questions or interest in volunteering at the eyeglass warehouse.

At the warehouse the glasses are then separated and washed. Single visions are sorted from bifocals, nearsighted from farsighted and men's separated from women's and children's glasses. Next, volunteers measure the power of each lens, catalogue and box according to the lens power and the eyeglasses are now ready for travel.
