Eyeglass Recycling - The Prison System

The Prison Program initiated by TWECS and the Department of Justice is now in it’s 3rd year and growing stronger. Inmates at North Fraser Pretrial Centre in Port Coquitlam are anxious to help out. TWECS volunteers have been instructing selected inmates on the proper procedure for measuring our cleaned sorted eyeglasses with lensometers. Since 2004 thousands of eyeglasses have been neutralized by prison immates and subsequently catalogued and shipped to Peru, Kenya, Tanzania and the Philippines with eye teams.

Volunteer With Recycling

Help us collect and recycle eyeglasses for the poor in the Third World.

Help us process the newly arrived glasses. We meet every Monday evening at 7:00pm in the basement of Burnaby-Lougheed Lions Club at 7420 Mulberry in Burnaby, off 16th and Cariboo Rd.
